TITLE | DESCRIPTION |
| Accounting Clerk | Performs simple and routine accounting functions such as comparing codes and verifying completeness and mathematical accuracy of documents, may classify, record, or post transactions to ledgers. |
| Accounts Payable | Receives invoices or staff reimbursement requests and verifies source, may maintain vendor files and order histories, compare and match invoices to purchase orders, issues checks for reimbursement, tracks and researches outstanding payments, creates and issues reports as needed. |
| Accounts Receivable | Receives payments due and posts to customer accounts, research discrepancies between amount due and funds received, issue and apply credits, may make calls on past due accounts, creates and issues reports as needed. |
| Payroll Processor | Receives hours worked for employees, tracks overtime and vacation/sick leave hours, applies appropriate deductions and tax assessments, generates payroll checks in accordance to company and government standards, may handle workers compensation and unemployment claims. |
| Junior Accountant | Entry-level member of an audit team, verify reports against source accounts and records, may reconcile bank and other accounts, verify supporting documentation of transactions, prepares selected portions of audit working papers. |
| Staff Accountant | Familiar with both accounts payable and receivable processes, verifies accuracy of and posts financial reports to budget, reconciles financial statements, runs reports and provides information upon request. |
| Accounting Manager | Oversees accounts payable and receivable operations, usually acts as supervisor for those employees, has practical knowledge of all standard accounting procedures, applies company policies and procedures within the departments, provides reports and information as requested. |
| Assistant Controller | Oversees accounting department operations, often needs in-depth knowledge of accounting procedures, software programs and office policies, provides assistance with month-end and year-end reports, helps prepare financial statements, performs special tasks and projects as assigned. |
| Controller | Supervises all accounting departments and employees, establishes department policies and procedures, has extensive practical experience in all accounting aspects, produces all standard financial reports including month- and year-end as well as special reports on request, develops strong relationship with public accounting firms and financial institutions, usually reports to Chief Financial or Executive Office or the company owner. |
| Certified Public Accountant | Carry out the operational and technical features of audits such as for new clients or acquisitions, develops audit steps and detailed procedures, may oversee an audit team, consolidates reports and findings, prepares financial statements, letters, and other closing memoranda for management approval |
| Chief Financial Officer | Oversees accounting and other finance related departments, tracks completion of all departments projects, often establishes, monitors and maintains budgets and other financial projects, provides analysis of those projects and companys overall performance. |
