Developing a relationship with your recruiter

Webster’s Dictionary defines relationship as “the relation connecting or binding participants in a relationship.”  At Staff Right, we feel that strong, intimate relationships with our clients are an integral part of our existence.  Developing strong relationships with our clients allows Staff Right to offer ideas and problem solving solutions to many staffing obstacles.

One of the most severe issues a majority of companies in the United States faces today is a high turn-over rate.  More time and money is lost every year in finding and training qualified employees.  Therefore, it is increasingly crucial that the right person be found for your position the first time.  Based on our experience, here are some ideas to help you develop a productive working relationship with a staffing agency:

  • Clearly define all your needs for the specific position you are recruiting for.

  • Prioritize both your short- and long term goals for how this position will contribute to your company’s mission.

  • Communicate these requirements clearly to your recruiter.  It can rapidly become frustrating for all participants in a job search if this criteria is not made apparent from the start.

  • Be flexible and open to suggestions from your recruiter.  By looking at a position from a different angle, you may find a candidate that can do more than you expected.

  • Be absolutely honest in your assessment of and feedback on candidates.  If you are not getting the qualifications you are looking for, your recruiter may need to redirect his focus but until given that direction he cannot provide you with the service you deserve.
Communication is most effective when it is open and direct.  As stated in our company philosophy, you can always count on Staff Right to be candid with you.  This has been the basis of our success so far, and we are confident it will be in the future.  By developing the same strong relationship with your organization, we hope to share it with you!
